The second volume in the JMU Cultural Studies series has just been published by Würzburg University Press (WUP).
Edited by Maria Denzlein and Sophie Schönfeld Listening in: Perspective on Sound, Voice, and (Popular) Music Studies features the work of thirteen emerging scholars who analytically ‘listen in’ on practices centred on sound, voice, and/or popular music. Case studies range from early modern composition and cathedral soundscapes to resonance theory, hardcore punk and K-Pop.
The publication of the book will be celebrated on Tuesday, 29 July 2025, starting with a book presentation from 6 to 6:30 pm (CEST) in Übungsraum 15 of the Philosophy Building on JMU’s Hubland Campus. Celebration will continue on-site with an informal get-together with light refreshments in the Department of English and American Studies (Bau 5 of the Philosophy Building).
