CSC Study Day: Bollywood – Hollywood. Film Musicals on Trans/National Screens
Date: | 07/16/2025, 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM |
Location: | Hubland Nord, Geb. 21, 1.001 |
Organizer: | JMU Cultural Studies |
Movies matter because they offer us models for how to exist in the modern world and to think about central categories that organize that world such as race, gender, ethnicity, and, hardly least, the national. Musicals go a step further, as they make that modeling active and communal. No one just watches a musical. You sing and dance along.
Please join us for an interdisciplinary – Indian and American Studies – exploration of film musical traditions that may have developed within national frameworks, but have achieved a powerful transnational reach.
July 16, 10-16, Seminar Room 1.001, Graduate School Building, Beatrice-Edgell-Weg 21, 97074 Würzburg
The Study Day is free and open to the public.
