Paola Anna Nardi is Associate Professor in Anglo-American Literature and Culture at the Department of Modern Languages and Cultures of the University of Genova, Italy. She received her PhD in American Studies at the Catholic University of Milan, Italy. In 2024, she received a grant from the U.S. Embassy in Italy for a project aimed at promoting the study of U.S. literature among Italian high school teachers. Her research interests include American poetry, African American literature, Irish Americans, ecocriticism, theory of space, representations of space/place in literature, African American environmental history, and spatial justice. She is currently working on a larger book project about mobility, journeys, and Black women in Toni Morrison's novels. She has published a book on the American poet Marianne Moore, La poesia dello spazio (2007), and an anthology American Literature and Culture. A Selection of Texts (2010). She has written essays on Thomas William Gunn, Edith Wharton, Marianne Moore, Elizabeth Bishop, and Toni Morrison.
In her talk, she will focus on the Chinese American writer Gish Jen.
