The Institute

The Institute of Modern Languages brings together those subjects that deal with modern European foreign languages. This includes the academic study of the languages themselves, as well as the literatures and cultures of the countries in which they are spoken.

Teaching

The Institute of Modern Languages offers students on Bachelor's and teacher training courses a wide range of courses as well as interesting specialisation options in the field of literature, cultural studies and linguistics on the Master's degree courses.

Additional qualification

In addition to the regular degree, the additional qualifications "Digital Competence in the Humanities" and "Translation and Language Comparison" can be acquired.

Departments

English and American Studies, Romance Studies, Slavic Studies and Medieval Comparative Literature are independent departments. Within the Institute, they pursue common interests in research and teaching and are integrated into teaching and research networks of the entire faculty.
