American Studies Coffee Hour21.10.2021
Hello and welcome to our American Studies Coffee Hour!
We, the American Studies student assistants, have set up this "course" to offer (mainly first and second semester) students a platform to ask their questions and connect with each other as COVID restrictions pose a challenge to students who are just starting out right now. That is also why we will meet on Zoom.
To briefly explain the aim of our Coffee Hour: Our meetings are supposed to offer you a platform for organizational questions about your English studies, exams, schedules and more. As Rebecca has acquired her bachelor’s degree at the university and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in English Speaking Cultures and Marie is a Lehramt Gymnasium student for English and Latin, we can also provide answers and guidance regarding different degrees and other more general aspects of your studies here in Würzburg.
Dina and Haykanush, the English literature (Anglistik) student assistants will also be joining the WueCampus room in order to answer your questions regarding classes and lectures by the Anglistik department. Christina and Dominik, the English Didactics student assistants, will be organizing Cocktail Hour meetings as well as a less formal and more relaxed setting for you to meet and get to know each other (online) throughout the semester. More information on the Cocktail Hour meetings will be posted on WueCampus.
You can find our course on WueCampus if you search for “American Studies Coffee Hour” or under Veranstaltungen > Philosophische Fakultät > Anglistik und Amerikanistik > Coffee Hour. Please use the password “coffee” to enroll. The course will then show up under Meine Kurse > Semesterübergreifend > Coffee Hour.
Our first meeting will be on October 21, 2:15-4 pm. We will not meet every week, but on an every-other-week basis as needed and requested. If you have any questions that need to be answered in-between meetings or are unable to attend meetings in general, we would like you to post them in our General Discussion Forum so everyone else who might have the same question in mind has access to the replies. If you have any questions you do not want to post publicly in the forum, you can submit them to firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are looking forward to seeing you on Zoom!
Rebecca and Marie
