English Literature and British Cultural Studies

Research and teaching at the chair of English Literature and British Cultural Studies (Lehrstuhl für Englische Literatur- und Kulturwissenschaft) explore the literatures and cultures of the British Isles as well as the history and ongoing repercussions of British influence around the globe. Applying a wide historical angle, ranging from early modernity to the present moment, we are interested in the interplay of literary and non-literary media of world-making. Consequently, there is a strong emphasis on both current theoretical debates and in-depth analyses of literary or cultural documents.
