Partners in India

The Chair of English Literature and Cultural Studies maintains close contact with several partner institutions in India. The cooperation with our partners exists in the framework of the interdisciplinary Centre for Modern India Studies at Würzburg University, in the context of our ongoing research and teaching project "Literature in a Globalized World: Creative and Critical Perspectives", and through several Memoranda of Understanding which the University of Würzburg have struck with their Indian counterparts.

Delhi: Jawaharlal Nehru University New Delhi

The closest ties exist with Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in New Delhi. A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between JNU and the University of Würburg several years ago.

The chair of English Literature and Cultural Studies particularly cooperates with Prof. Saugata Bhaduri from the Centre of English Studies at the School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies. The chair has been welcoming visiting professors from the most renowned Indian university for a long time. Furthermore, academics as well as students from Würzburg visit JNU at a regular basis for research and teaching purposes.

The institute is cooperating with JNU in the context of the programme „Indo-German Partnerships in Higher Education" within the framework of the project "Foundations of the Indo-European Strategic Partnership".

The cooperation is made possible through the funding initiative Indo-German Partnerships in Higher Education of the Indian University Grants Commission (UGC) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). This project is financially supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) with funds from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
